Review summary
Groupe ADP, formerly Aéroports de Paris, has submitted its Act4Nature commitments and its 2023 Universal Declaration Report to the It’s Now for Nature campaign and met all the review criteria to be part of the campaign.
Reviewed September 2024
- Groupe ADP has conducted a materiality assessment regarding its biodiversity impacts and dependencies in 2022.
- Groupe ADP’s impacts and dependencies on nature primarily focus on water, biodiversity, and natural resources such as wood and natural fibres but also GHG emissions from the use of hydrocarbons.
- For example, water is critical across the airport value chain, including catering, sanitary services, and firefighting. Groupe ADP’s policies aim to protect water resources, reduce stress in host regions, and limit consumption.
- Group ADP have set SMART targets included as part of Act4nature. Targets focus on a range different themes such as governance, value chain, local operations, etc.
- For example, Groupe ADP has made the commitments to preserve the environment: water, soil, and biodiversity and reduce the biodiversity footprint of its value chain.
- An example target is that Groupe ADP is looking to preserve 25% of surface areas for biodiversity at Paris-CDG and 30% at Paris-Orly and Paris-Le Bourget, and provide the Group’s airports with a trajectory to improve their biodiversity index by 2030.
- For each of Groupe ADP’s 2023 Universal Declaration Report’s priority to be a leader in the environmental transition of the airport and air transport, they present their priorities, a specific commitment, a policy and objective and the main actions they have taken in 2023 to reach that goal.
- For example, the reduction in the use of phytosanitary products has been reinforced at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Le Bourget with -80% use at the end of 2021 compared to 2008 (three-year average).
- Groupe ADP aims to continue its carbon reduction initiatives and reduce its impact on the climate. It aims to be carbon neutral for all its sites by 2030.
- The Director of Sustainable Development oversees environmental policies, including biodiversity commitments, and reports directly to the Executive Committee, ensuring these issues are central to the Group’s strategic direction.
- Act4nature commitments are signed by the President – Directeur General.
